Management Team Biographies
William Hochman William Hochman brings nearly 30 years of leadership experience to his position as CEO of The Joel Paul Group. His expertise is in general-management, marketing, and consultative sales – and he brings to JPG client engagements a unique combination of management know-how gained from serving in senior capacities with leading international brands and prominent nonprofit groups. Willie has extensive industry experience in the financial services sector. For more than 25 years, he served as Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Standard & Poor’s. He has also held senior business development positions with Dun and Bradstreet. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Willie has been actively involved in communal development and philanthropy. He has served on the Board of Directors at Yavneh Academy in Paramus, NJ, and he is currently a member of the Board of Directors of The SINAI Schools in Teaneck, NJ. He and his wife, Gail, have three children and five grandchildren.

Joel H. Paul Joel H. Paul, president of JPG, is one of the nation’s leading authorities on executive search for nonprofit organizations. He is also an authority on communal life and philanthropy and has held multiple high-profile positions with nonprofit groups focused on advancing Jewish life. Joel has served as an advisor to national and international nonprofit organizations for over 30 years. Prior to founding Joel H. Paul & Associates in 1986, he served as the Executive Director of the Hillel Foundations of Greater Philadelphia. Joel has served on many Boards, utilizing his lay and professional experience to help nonprofit organizations formulate both policy and strategic direction. He has also spoken frequently before professional industry groups on such topics as hiring strategies and organizational policy planning. Joel has traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Russia, Europe and Israel and has led philanthropic missions to these countries. A Boston native, Joel received his Bachelor’s degree from Boston University. He has also completed graduate studies at Yeshiva University, Temple University, and the University of Pennsylvania. Joel and his wife Rhoda reside in New Jersey. He has three children and eleven grandchildren.

Judy Magen Judy Magen, who joined JPG in 1997, serves as the firm’s Executive Vice President. She oversees daily operations and is responsible for developing and implementing firm-wide marketing initiatives. Judy also represents JPG at industry conferences and fundraising events, and meets regularly with clients and candidates. Judy's background includes management positions with Strategic Paradigms, Inc. and Creative Educational Resources. Her primary responsibilities included marketing, sales promotion, operations, administration and the implementation of programs that not only raised student achievement, but also changed their views on the importance of learning. Her nearly 15 years of experience in educational program development also includes positions as Vice President of School Relations and National Director of School Services. She received her Bachelor’s degree from C.W. Post College and a Master’s from Queens College.

Judy Goldgrab Judy Goldgrab, a Vice President, has been with JPG since December 2006. She specializes in recruiting and has serviced administration, development, and communications departments within nonprofit institutions. Prior to joining JPG, Judy served as the Director of the Eimatai Leadership Development Project at Yeshiva University’s Center for the Jewish Future, where she created a national school-based program inspiring grass-roots engagement and activism. Judy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Yeshiva University. In her personal life, Judy enjoys reading, swimming, cooking, travel, and spending time with her husband and three children.

Daniel Berger Daniel Berger is a Vice President who joined JPG in 2008. Prior to joining the firm he served as an associate with a leading employee retention consulting firm, where he helped reduce employee turnover at Fortune 500 companies through techniques such as focus group research, executive interviews and mapping employee lifecycles. Daniel has also worked with a national staffing agency, where he co-managed the recruitment process of numerous large staffing projects. Daniel’s expertise is in Organizational Development and in devising human capital solutions to attract, retain and motivate professional staff. He graduated from Iona College with a Master's Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and from Hunter College with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. Daniel is an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychologists (SIOP).
