Operating across seven states in the U.S., Teach Coalition advocates for equitable government funding and resources for yeshivas and Jewish day schools, making Jewish education accessible to all families.

Job Description:

As the first ever Teach Coalition Community Engagement Officer you will be responsible for building the Teach NJ presence and growing a strong grassroots movement focused on advocacy and voting. You will do this by engaging with the community and building relationships with its members. As part of a growing community engagement team, the Director will be supported by the state and national office.

The Officer will also participate in Teach Coalition fundraising efforts from time to time, in particular by building and growing our Teach Membership base in New Jersey. A successful director has a proven track record in grassroots and field organizing. ales or fundraising experience is a plus. This is a hybrid position and reports to the North NJ Director. Applicants must live in NJ. The office is in Teaneck, NJ.

Essential Functions:

  • Create and execute a plan aimed at increasing community engagement and grow Teach’s community in New Jersey
  • Develop and run events aimed at engaging community members in Teach’s mission
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with donors and inspire them to increase their investment in our work
  • Proven leadership skills that foster an open dialog with community members and potential leaders
  • Engage with local schools and shuls to educate them on Teach’s mission and assist them in accessing Teach’s resources
  • Strong multi-tasking skills with a demonstrated ability to adapt readily to changing requirements and thrive in a dynamic operational environment
  • Highly motivated self-starter with demonstrated ability to establish credibility, be decisive, influence others, and operate in an independent fashion
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals and build effective working relationships and networks in pursuit of common goals (e.g., building relationships with community:
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit new donors
  • Meet quarterly and annual grassroots and fundraising goals
  • Identify, recruit, and develop lay leadership for leadership roles
  • Provide regular updates that inspire people to become more involved in Teach’s policy and advocacy work
  • Engage community members in action alerts, voting, events and other advocacy activities
  • Represent Teach at community events and forums
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date moves management records in the CRM system, including logging communications and meetings.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience in sales/fundraising or a related field with a successful track record of achieving and exceeding goals
  • Ability to pivot quickly to address rapidly changing situations
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can initiate and maintain contacts, relationships, projects, meetings and events
  • A problem solver, able to visualize and articulate solutions using an analytical mindset
  • Ability to prioritize, work independently and complete multiple assignments with attention to detail in fast paced, rapidly changing environment

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or commensurate experience
